Washington Freedom's Clyde Watson and Jim Gabarra Join MPS Staff for Spring Training Sessions

Continuing with the objectives of providing the best trainers and the best facilities for its teams and players, McLean Premier Soccer has added Washington Freedom coaches Clyde Watson and Jim Gabarra to the MPS Training Program staff. Training will take place at state of the art Lewinsville Park #2 (field turf) on Wednesdays, March 24th through May 19th.

"We are extremely excited to bring Clyde Watson, Jim Gabarra and such an experienced youth soccer coaching staff to work with us in McLean. We hope MPS teams and players take advantage of this wealth of soccer knowledge that we have made available to them," said MPS Technical Director and USA Men's Assistant Coach Curt Onalfo, who will also attend and participate in the spring training sessions.

Watson, 47, captained Clemson's nationally ranked soccer team and played internationally for 10 years with the Guyana national team. Clyde was named VYSA Boys Coach of the Year for 1998. Currently, Clyde is the Director of the Freedom Academy and assists WUSA Champion Washington Freedom Head Coach Jim Gabarra.

Gabarra will join Watson, MPS Trainers Jamil Faryadi, Lyle Yorks, and Curt Onalfo at the program, making this a truly first class international training opportunity for MPS teams and players.

The program curriculum emphasizes advanced ball control, small-sided games and functional training for forwards, midfielders and defenders. Players will be broken up into age and gender-appropriate groups with an approximate coach to player ratio of 1:15.
