In September of 2002, McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) launched its McLean Premier Soccer (MPS) program. MPS is a professionally coached program created to provide the best and most age-appropriate training and coaching for MYS’ strongest and most committed soccer players. More than ten of McLean’s Division I-type teams from ages U-9 and up are currently part of the MPS program, including the Courage.

MPS teams and team members receive numerous benefits including weekly functional and small group training with the area's best coaches, specializing in shooting and finishing; first touch and fast footwork; defensive techniques; and explosive speed. MPS teams train together on a regular basis and attend a one-week camp together each summer. MPS teams also attend MPS endorsed tournaments giving MPS teams of different age groups and their parents a chance to support one another and socialize together at these tournaments.

Most MPS teams (and all of our older MPS teams) are professionally coached. MPS coaches carry A and B and National Youth licenses and specialize in the age group that they are coaching. As a member of MPS/MYS, the Courage has access to some of the very best fields in the Northern Virginia area. For more information about MPS click here.

Meet the MPS Technical Director

MYS has named Curt Onalfo as the MPS Technical Director. Curt is highly regarded as one of the most accomplished and successful coaches in the nation, currently serving as the Assistant Coach of the US Men's National team under Bruce Arena. Curt brings extraordinary credentials to our MPS and travel-training program. Curt’s accomplishments include: All American in high school; All ACC at the University of Virginia under Bruce Arena and a Herman Trophy candidate in 1990; co-captain of the US Olympic team in 1992; a professional player in France and Mexico in the 1990s; and, later, with the LA Galaxy, the San Jose Clash and DC United. Curt has been a soccer coach for over 17 years, which includes his position as an Assistant Coach for DC United. He carries both a National "B" license and a National Youth license with his "A" license designation now pending. Importantly, Curt has a longstanding and very close association with McLean Youth Soccer.
